2 GARRISON BAND THRILLS GUESTS WITH SPECTACULAR MUSICAL PERFORMANCE
The 2 Garrison Band delivered a memorable evening of music, art, and theatrical elegance at the Pentecost Worship Centre, Air Force Base Takoradi, on Thursday 6 November 2025. The event showcased the ensemble’s artistic depth and its role in strengthening unity across the services and the broader Garrison community.

The 2 Garrison Band is a joint musical ensemble comprising the Ghana Army Band, Ghana Navy Band, and the Ghana Air Force Band. The performance was held in collaboration with the Triumph Harmonic Choir of the Pentecost Worship Centre. The Ghana Air Force Band performed under the direction of Flight Lieutenant Nelson Ocloo, while the Ghana Navy Band was conducted by Sub Lieutenant Emmanuel Adu-Appiah.

The Guest of Honour for the occasion was the Base Commander, Air Force Base Takoradi, Air Commodore Eric Yirenkyi, who also serves as the Garrison Commander.
In his remarks, Air Commodore Yirenkyi applauded the band for their exceptional artistry, describing the evening’s presentation as “a sweet melody accompanied by beautiful harmonies.” He further drew a parallel between the rhythmic precision of music and the coordinated efforts of personnel in maintaining security and operational effectiveness. He encouraged personnel to remain united in purpose and service, noting that “the Garrison should be a place where harmony is not only heard in music but lived in our daily interactions, work ethic, and collective commitment.”

Delivering the welcome address, the Officer-In-Charge of the Ghana Air Force Band, Flight Lieutenant Nelson Ocloo, underscored the transformative power of music as a source of inspiration, comfort, and joy. He emphasised that music strengthens esprit de corps among the services, stating that it “evokes emotions and brings people together.”

In his closing remarks, the Officer-In-Charge of the Ghana Navy Band, Sub Lieutenant Emmanuel Adu-Appiah, expressed appreciation to band members and the Triumph Harmonic Choir for their dedication to excellence. He also extended thanks to the Garrison Commander, the Garrison Command, and all guests for their steadfast support.

The event drew the presence of several senior officers and distinguished guests, including Flying Group Commander, Group Captain Selasie Yaya Agbenyefia, Garrison Education Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Saviour Hadjah, Commanding Officer Ghana Navy Supply Base, Commander Sabina Dennison, Commanding Officer Naval Base Sekondi, Commander Charles Darkwah, Commanding Officer Administration Wing of the Air Force Base Takoradi, Wing Commander Abdul-Aziz Sherif Mustapha, Second-in-Command 2 Infantry Battalion, Major Isaac Akyena, Senior Officers, Officers, representatives of base companies, stakeholders, soldiers, and families of the Garrison.

The night concluded with a shared sense of pride and camaraderie, reaffirming music as a powerful instrument of cohesion, identity, and cultural expression within the Ghana Armed Forces.
